EzGov Europe is at the forefront in helping government deliver value-added customer services. A good example is the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). CCTC processes approximately a quarter of a million credential applications annually and maintains a wealth of supporting information, including nearly 1.5 million credentials on file for more than 800,000 teachers. Their work is critical to the successful operation of the state's schools, in that CCTC's accuracy and efficiency affect the supply of new teachers and the retention of those already in the field. If teachers are in short supply, class sizes increase and negatively affect student performance.
With their online teacher credentialing solution, CCTC is pioneering a solution that not only allows the agency's customers (teachers, administrators, and student families) faster, more reliable access to information — it also allows convenient access to more information than ever before. In addition, customer access is no longer governed by agency office hours; the information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the convenience of a constituent's home.
Maximising processing efficiency
We worked with CCTC to ensure that their customer service and application processing efficiency were maximised.
Our solution focused on the need to:
- accommodate increasing volumes of credential applications
- improve efficiency, quality and accessibility in credentialing services
- maintain the large amount of data associated with the credentialing process
- generate metrics to demonstrate the state's progress towards public policy goals
- provide parents and teachers with round-the-clock access to credential information and renewal services
- improve customer service and support
We knew that these requirements likely would require a level of stability and reliability that custom-developed solutions often fail to deliver. On the other hand, COTS software could not meet their unique needs.
Low-risk, High-value
The solution combined the low-risk, high-value COTS benefits of EzGov Europe's flexible e-Government component framework with a custom layer to meet all of CCTC's specific requests. We developed applications to meet Section 508 accessibility standards and to be accessible via any browser. Moreover, the applications are well positioned to seamlessly leverage integrated voice response (IVR) access as a future enhancement and a wireless delivery channel when the end-user technology becomes more main stream. Today, CCTC has the robust end-to-end credentialing system it desired.
